Honeymoon: This was taken on the legendary cliff hike connecting Cinque Terre, the five isolated villages along Italy's Ligurian coast. October 2001. |
|
Karen and Felony in Buckskin Gulch, April 1999. The day after our visit this slot canyon in southern Utah flooded. We hiked out of the adjacent Paria Canyon in knee-deep mini-flood. |

When we sailed the Caribbean in May 2000, Karen loved to pilot this little dinghy, pictured here at Jost Van Dyke, a legendary party spot. Our host, Diane Spaziani, is on the dock. |

Ice breaker: Karen in Helsinki's harbor, February 2001. |

After we bailed on Utah in April 2002, we went to Kauai for a couple weeks. We backpacked to this beach on the Napali Coast. We didn't have a permit for camping there and, of course, we got busted by a ranger who choppered in with his buddies to party for the weekend. |

Freezing our asses of in St. Petersburg, February 2001. |
|
Mt. Nebo: Karen, John E. and I climbed the highest peak in the Wasatch with our dogs in late September 1999. Here Karen is examining the last of our food as the sun set's on Nebo's northern summit. Needless to say we hiked out in the dark. The real bummer was some maggots from Nephi stole our beer that had been chillin' in the creek by the trailhead. |
|
Another gnarly day at the office: This is the first picture Karen gave me, showing her piloting Arc Angel. For eight months in 1998 she sailed with Glen Sickorez down the East Coast. |
